SECTION A GENERAL INFORMATION |

WORKBOOK AND EQUIPMENT FUNDING |
The NSW Department of Education and
Training (DET) provides each school with basic facilities. Over the
years, parents have come to expect high levels of resources in schools.
These range from a well-stocked library, sporting equipment, extensive
classroom resources, audio-visual aids and computer facilities to
additional, interesting craft equipment. Almost all of these resources,
as well as workbooks, are obtained by parental financial support.
It is essential that parents recognise the relationship between the
level of their financial support of the school and equipment/resource
levels. It is apparent to school staff that parents require the best
available facilities for their children.
These will be provided in direct proportion to funding levels. At
present, the Parents and Citizens Association raises a considerable
amount of money through a variety of activities including Walkathons,
Canteen, Donations, Uniforms, Chocolate Drives etc.
Appropriate workbooks are issued to students at the commencement of the
year for parental purchase. Parents are sent an account to cover the
cost of these workbooks and other items. There is no funding from the
DET for workbooks and costs are met by parents. It would be appreciated
if this account could be paid promptly.
Administrative costs of a school of Kings Langley’s size are
considerable. Consequently, in order that adequate planning and
budgeting can be done to make the most efficient use of available money,
an equitable fee structure may be necessary, although a school fee is
not charged at present. We hope that parents will recognise this as the
means of obtaining the very best of education for pupils at a cost far
below that of any private school. In this way, fund-raising activities
may have specific goals rather than providing an indeterminate pool of
funds for a multiplicity of expenditure.
Remember: School facilities relate directly to parental support!
